Shaping Future through Quality Education
In a time of change, passionate reformers in pre-independence West Bengal like Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Swami Vivekananda, and Sister Nivedita championed women's education, believing it would empower young girls and shape a brighter future. Their visionary efforts sparked a revolution, inspiring a group of dedicated individuals to establish ‘Balika Shiksha Sadan’ on July 8, 1948. Founded with the belief in the transformative power of education, the school began at 54 Gariahat Road, Kolkata, with 150 students, quickly gaining recognition for its academic excellence. By January 1950, it moved to 87 Vivekananda Road to meet the growing demand for quality education in North Kolkata.
As the school expanded, it addressed the need for additional space, leading to a major milestone in 1967 with the establishment of a new building at 12/1, Madhu Roy Bye Lane, dedicated to the primary section and inaugurated as ‘Murarilal Mehta Vidya Mandir.’ Today, the school continues its legacy as a beacon of hope and empowerment, shaping future leaders while uplifting generations of women with a commitment to academic excellence.
